SleepMed Launches the DigiTrace Digital Video EEG System

PEABODY, MA -- Mar 19, 2002 -- DigiTrace monitoring systems are the most reliable, patient friendly,home recording systems available on the market today and with SleepMed's recent launch of its Digital Video EEG System, DigiTrace™ maintains its "state of the art" reputation and brand leadership in full coverage, ambulatory EEG and PSG systems (patent 5,222,503). "DigiTrace's team of experienced biomedical and software engineers, along with respected EEG, epilepsy and sleep specialists, has created this unique technology which provides video correlation of electrographic events in a truly portable, easy-to-use unit that weighs only sixteen pounds with dimensions of 11.5" x 8.75"," stated Jerry Myers, the President and Chief Executive Officer of SleepMed.

With our DigiTrace™ recorders and video systems, accurate diagnosis of seizure disorders can be done on an outpatient basis for patients with: (1) inconclusive routine EEG's; (2) episodic events in which epilepsy is suspected; (3) confirmed epilepsy, but also experiencing suspected non-epileptic events; (4) the need to differentiate between neurologic and cardiac related problems; and (5) seizure types that need to be characterized for improved patient management.

DigiTrace technology was originally developed in 1990 by a team of Harvard engineers and physicians. Its clinical utility has been validated in numerous published journal articles. DigiTrace has been the exclusive technology used for NIH-funded and industry-sponsored clinical trials because of its unique recording features and unmatched reliability. It has been used to assist in the diagnosis of over 100,000 adults and children at SleepMed Service Centers, as well as dozens of leading epilepsy and sleep programs across the country.
